What Does Freedom Mean to You?

Posted by: Sigal Zoldan on: July 2, 2009

This 4th of July really gets me thinking. Independence…freedom…when was the last time you really, honestly, looked into what it means? People are running around looking for solutions, looking for more clients, more business, more money, more health… are they really looking for all those or do they just want to feel good, to be free and to enjoy their time on this planet?…

So before you jump into your 4th of July celebrations I invite you to take a moment and to imagine your personal freedom…(it’s starts with a deep breath…:-)

This is what freedom means to me -
To Do What Ever I Want To Do:

And this too -
To Kiss Who Ever I Want To Kiss:

And this too -
To Make Good Use Of My Money:

So if you are reading these words and you want to enter this space of freedom I invite you to play with me.
For every detail that you’ll share with me of what freedom is for you I’ll share with you another one of mine.

So here it is:
That I can have a few hours in any given day  to do what I want to do, like Yoga, taking a walk/hike, meditating and playing with my cats.

Now it’s your turn. Just comment your post below, if you have an interesting link to share please do so.

TO YOUR FREEDOM. Paper people arround the globe

Millions of us can communicate online without paying taxes! (shhh, don’t tell anybody – someone will figure out how to tax)

I can choose my mindset, no matter what goes on out there.

check out my blog post about what’s created because we have so much freedom to choose

Thanks for sharing this Sigal — I especially like the bird! (though the tax video is pretty cool too!)

For me there are two levels of freedom that I think are important: psychological and political.

Psychologically freedom to me means being in a state where we feel ready and willing to take the actions and speak the truth that is resonant with our deepest being regardless of the opinion or judgment of others.

Politically freedom means to me the right to pursue any course of action that I consider right so long as I am not preventing any one else from doing the same thing. Sadly, I see that our country no longer represents this view of freedom. The resurrection of this ideal is a deep passion of mine.

May this 4th of July be a day for reconnecting to our freedom on all levels!

Thanks for your words, Scott and Sigal for the videos and your words!

I totally agree with Scott about Political freedom and I want to add freedom of Religion in there, too. I hope someday soon that freedom of religion will mean just that again…

From the Macro to the Micro…for me freedom is to express your opinion (with the intention of peace, not war) and not to be shut down in any form. This is what is so colorful to me in this world. what a world would we have if everyone would think the same…

and in the micro is to wake up on Saturday late :-)

Thank you for the fun videos Sigal, they brought a smile and that is much appreciated. And, Scott McRea’s comment was so right on that I want to thank him for his contribution too.

We have always had so many freedoms here we forget the beauty of what we have. The freedom of speech and expression extends to what is published and what we get to read whether it be a book in the library, the magazines on the news stand, a play on a stage or artwork in a museum. that same freedom extends to music and dance. No one is controlling and censoring any form of communication here. We are free to say what we want and express ourselves in any way we want and are only limited by the good manners we were brought up with.

Women here are free to get educations and hold positions in companies as professionals. We can wear what we please and are not required to be covered up from head to toe. (I shudder at the thought.)

Then there is spiritual freedom and many other freedoms I am just not thinking of at the moment. We live with tremendous good fortune.

Cheers to all as we celebrate this beautiful day!

So many great thoughts are being shared here.

I am keeping up my share and sharing a few more of mine.

Freedom for me is:
To have running water.
Food (organic) on my plate every day and a few times a day.
Turning on the air condition when it’s hot.
and living close by to the beach so I can see it’s beauty and enjoy the peace when ever I choose to.

Great blog. I’m a cat fan, so the kitty video was my favorite!

Hi Sigal,
I loved your videos! They add so much to your site!
The birds were priceless!
